FAQ
Short answers to common questions. If you can't find an answer, check the relevant section in the sidebar or email hello@svodly.ru.
How much does it cost
The Svodly core is free: bookkeeping, sync and shared access — with no ads, subscriptions or limits on accounts, transactions and categories. Paid extensions (for example, an AI assistant) will appear in the future, but the basic features will stay free — that's set out in the manifesto.
Where is my data stored
On your device. The cloud is optional: connect it and a copy of your book will be stored on the Svodly servers for sync and shared access. Third-party clouds (Yandex.Disk, Google Drive and others) are not supported. More in “Security”.
Does the app send anything over the network without the cloud
Book data — never. The desktop checks for updates once a day (you can turn this off in settings). Anonymous telemetry is off by default and only works if you turned it on yourself.
Is there end-to-end encryption
No. The contents of a book in the cloud are not encrypted with a personal key — otherwise a forgotten password would mean irreversible data loss. Connections are encrypted, and access to the servers is strictly limited. The strictest option is to work without the cloud: then your data never reaches us at all.
Can I work entirely without the cloud
On desktop and mobile — yes: the app opens straight into a local book, with no sign-up and no network. The cloud is only needed for syncing devices and shared access. The web version works with an account: the book syncs with the cloud and is cached in the browser.
The web shows “OPFS unavailable — data won't be saved between sessions”
This is how the web version warns you that the browser hasn't given it persistent storage (the OPFS mechanism), and the book is held only in the tab's memory: everything you entered will disappear when you close or reload the page. This doesn't affect the desktop and mobile app — they have their own local storage.
What to do:
- Connect the Svodly Cloud on the Sync screen. Then the book is stored on the server and will load again on any device, even if the local copy is gone — this is the most reliable way not to lose anything.
- Leave private mode (incognito): there the browser deliberately doesn't allocate persistent storage. Open app.svodly.ru in a normal window.
- Allow the site to store data. Make sure site data isn't blocked for
app.svodly.ruand isn't being wiped by an extension or a browser setting that “clears on close”. - Update or switch your browser. On very old versions of Safari and in some embedded browsers (webviews inside other apps) OPFS is missing — open the site in an up-to-date Chrome, Firefox, Edge or Safari.
While this message is showing, don't enter important data without the cloud connected. The general procedure for failures is in the “Troubleshooting” section.
Which import and export formats are there
- JSON — the Svodly format with the whole book structure; suitable for a full backup and for migration.
- CSV — import and export of transactions; the encoding is detected automatically.
- Excel (XLSX) — import and export of transactions.
More in “Import & export”.
Can I migrate data from another app
Yes. Migration is supported from ZenMoney, CoinKeeper, 1Money, Elba and Alzex Finance, as well as from your own Excel spreadsheet. The export file is recognised automatically; transactions, accounts, categories and counterparties are migrated, and an import can be undone. Instructions are in the “Migrating from other apps” section.
Are multiple devices supported
Yes. Connect the cloud on the Sync screen and sign in with one account on all your devices — changes propagate automatically. Shared access to a book for several people with roles (owner, editor, viewer) is described on the “Shared access” page.
What about updates
The desktop checks for updates once a day and installs them in one tap, with no reinstall. The web version updates automatically. The mobile app — via the App Store and Google Play.
Is there a macOS version
Yes. The desktop app installs from a .dmg on the download page; the web version works in Safari and
Chrome at app.svodly.ru.
Can I load a bank statement
Yes — as a file. Save the statement as CSV or Excel from your bank's app and load it via import: the columns are recognised automatically. A direct connection to banks via API is not supported yet.
Can I track cryptocurrency and investments
There is no separate asset class for portfolios. Create a “Broker” or “Crypto wallet” account and record transactions in an ordinary currency — analytics and charts will work. Full portfolio tracking with quotes is planned.
Is there an API for developers
There is no public API. For integrations, use export: the data exports to JSON, and CSV can be read by any tool.
What happens when I delete my account
Your account and all the data associated with it, including cloud copies of your books, are deleted from the Svodly servers. Local books on your devices remain. Deletion is available in the settings of the web and desktop versions — the “Delete account” section.
How can I support the project
- Tell people who might find Svodly useful about it.
- Report bugs and ideas through the “Feedback” form in the app's settings.
- Turn on anonymous telemetry — it helps us find problematic configurations.
I found a bug — what should I do
Open “Troubleshooting” — it covers common situations and how to contact support. In short: the Settings → About → Feedback form, or an email to hello@svodly.ru. We reply within one business day.
